Staying in HOME HOTEL BUENOS AIRES on my last 4 days and 3 nights in Argentina felt like it’s the cherry on top of my trip. Everything was pleasant from overall hospitality, to provision of comfort and use of amenities. They gave me accommodation without complexities, and made sure I was welcomed, like a family member who finally came home.

The hotel is located along the tree-lined-street of Honduras, in the eclectic and quaint district of Palermo Hollywood. I discovered that the neighbourhood was so named simply because of the presence of TV and radio stations, as well as film studios. Although Palermo Hollywood may sound so elite and expensive, I find it affordable, non-intimidating, as a matter of fact, the place’s interesting with fusion of old and new!

After my 3 hour local flight from El Calafate in Patagonia, I arrived at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, the international airport in the neighbourhood of Palermo, situated about 2 kilometers, northeast of downtown Buenos Aires. With my backpack and luggage in tow, I immediately hired a taxi cab from one of the counters at airport, that brought me to the doors of Home Hotel Buenos Aires in less than 15 minutes.

A few steps from Home Hotel Buenos Aires and its lateral streets, I saw various local cafes, home-grown eateries and restaurants, a gym and a fitness club, lots of mini-groceries, a bar, souvenir shops and other interesting establishments that could stimulate one’s curiosity. Although the place looks packed, I didn’t find it overwhelming! It’s absolutely far from being busy as downtown Buenos Aires. I appreciated the sidewalks are lined by tall trees; it’s a peaceful community with some tourists and local porteños just walking their dogs in the late afternoon. I believe the hotel location’s best attribute is being the unofficial gastronomic hub of Argentina!

Is Subte or the Argentine subway metro far from Home Hotel Buenos Aires? The Ministro Carranza station which is part of green line (line D) that goes directly to city centre is around 8 to 9 blocks away. I enjoyed strolling from Home Hotel Buenos Aires in Honduras Street, then I turn right to Alvaro Street and find the subte station at its end. I suddenly missed walking on those streets to reach the subway because I loved the sights along the way.

A spacious, clean and air-conditioned room with bespoke-in-room amenities was assigned to me at the second floor. It has the basic and spotless toilet with hot and cold shower and bath tub, with huge bottled  toiletries with pumps (refillable, to avoid or lessen plastic wastes), a telephone, TV set and speakers, a mini bar and personal fridge. Although the huge bed and pillows truly complemented my tired and weary body after an entire day of wandering, my most favourite part of the room was the glass window with built-in wooden bench where I’d use to sit just watch the street before dusk.

The attitude of hotel staff could make or break any lovely and well-planned vacation, doesn’t it? And how did I find the services of people from Home Hotel Buenos Aires?

The 24-hour-concierge staff who are all multi-lingual surely deserve a salary raise in my own honest opinion! Luciano in the morning shift, followed by his other colleagues were very friendly, helpful and informative.

Because I arrived earlier than the usual 2PM check in time, they volunteered to keep my luggage and backpack in their storage while I wait at the very inviting lobby.

All of my queries regarding directions to tourist spots that I would like to visit were answered; they even showed concern when they advised me regarding safety of going to Caminito in La Boca area. They called and arranged a regular taxi cab for my airport transfer upon my check out. They rendered efficient service that any hotel guest would appreciate.

Tango shows and classes may be pre-arranged, lunch or dinner in any restaurants in Palermo may be reserved through them, as well as estancia tours, football games, river delta tours, bike tours and car hires, city tours etcetera. They also offer laundry and dry clean services, round-the-clock medical assistance, even baby-sitting-services may be arranged with Home Hotel Buenos Aires. What more can you ask for?

An outdoor pool, that’s heated by using solar panels, and is partially tucked within lush trees and manicured garden, a small yet enticing restaurant and bar where breakfast buffet is served daily, a hotel maid service that does not only make up the room upon request, but more so, provides a small paper with information of the next-day-weather and advice as per temperature and climate (so you know what to expect and what to wear), plus it comes with a decadent cookie, delivered at 6PM usually. I think it’s so special and unique that’s hard to find from other hotels around.

Home Hotel Buenos Aires also has sauna and spa.

I loved how healthy the spread every morning at the restaurant and bar of Home Hotel. Apart from fresh fruits and fresh juices, they serve eggs based on guest’s preference – either boiled, poached, scrambled, or cooked sunny-side-up. There’s cereals and fresh milk, yoghurt, butter, jams and preserves, slices of bread, medialunas or Argentine croissant, ham, cheese, tomatoes and cucumber for you to make your personal sandwiches. A choice of coffee (cappuccino, latte, espresso, amerikano, etc), or tea (green tea, jasmine, etc), and chilled orange juice and mixed fresh juices. I looked forward to wake up those mornings for Home Hotel breakfast!
