The Filipino Times Awards 2017 held in the tallest hotel in the world, JW Marriott Marquis located at the heart of Dubai was a success last Friday, 11th August 2017! It was well attended by no less than the Philippines Ambassador to the UAE, Constancio Vingno Jr., Philippines Consul General Paul Raymond Cortes, The Filipino Times Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, Karen Remo, the staff of The Filipino Times, the distinguished panel of judges, this year’s awards nominees, and the who’s who of the UAE Filipino community.
In its third year of giving recognition to exemplary individual Filipinos and favoured brands in the United Arab Emirates, it was my first time to attend the exclusively by-invitation-only-TFT Awards for the reason that I was actually one of the shortlisted nominees in the category, New Media Personality of the Year, along with fellow social media people, Junie Sorsano and Enrico Cardoniga.
From the remarkable venue, to its red carpet reception, The Filipino Times Awards 2017 welcomed its attendees with elegance and glamour, comparable to other world-class events. Surprisingly, the program was highly commendable for being prompt, and far from being lacklustre and boring. The nominees, invited guests and sponsors were all treated to sumptuous dinner buffet, served with free-flowing beverages including Australian red and white wines. The Dubai Grand Ballroom of JW Marriott Marquis Hotel was dressed that truly fit the occasion!
Following singing of UAE and Philippines’ national anthems, the lively hosts (one of whom was a former Filipino actor and That’s Entertainment artist, now UAE-resident, Kenneth Peralta) opened the show with greetings, then a vibrant production number showcased colourful Filipino folk dances. Another praiseworthy factor in The Filipino Times Awards 2017 was distribution of awards itself – fast-phased and straightforward, and spotlight was figuratively provided by the hosts that highlighted the awe-inspiring achievements of the winners!
The event certainly made me extra-proud of being a global Filipino!
Congratulations to all the people behind The Filipino Times Awards 2017! A job well done!
“The Filipino Times Awards is an annual gathering of the who’s who of UAE’s Filipino community in a glitterati red-carpet event in honor of exemplary Filipinos and in recognition of top brands which Filipinos love.
The Filipino Times Awards, which recognizes global success and world-class excellence, is the first award-giving body for overseas Filipinos that allows every voice to be heard, with nominations for both Individual and Brand Categories, open to the public.
The nominees for the Individual Category are reviewed and evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges using the rubrics of leadership, professional success, community service, values and work management; and creativity and innovation.
Finalists for the Brand Category, on the other hand, are shortlisted by the organizers, then subjected to public voting.”
Special and massive thank you to Ms. Anne Lora Santos, former Lifestyle Editor of TFT who nominated me in the New Media Personality of the Year category!
Congratulations to all the winners, most specially to Sir Eric who won in our category as New Media Personality of the Year!
To the judges and to all people behind The Filipino Times Awards 2017, Maraming salamat po!
It’s truly an honour to be one of the finalists to this event!
Most of all, thank you to my youngest brother, JC and Marky for spending their weekend with me and driving all the way from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, to support me in this memorable event! You made me feel more than a winner!
And to everyone who follows this blog for more than 10 years now, to everyone who appreciates my photographs on my published books, Facebook and Instagram and other social media, I won’t be awarded in Malaysia in 2012 and 2013, and I won’t be nominated in the United Arab Emirates in 2017 without you, all! So you deserve my biggest and tightest hug! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Thank you, TFT!
To God be the Glory!
